Unlike other sutureless biological aortic valves, like the Perceval® valve of Sorin, the 3F-Enable® valve of Medtronic, and the Intuity® valve of Edwards the Daidalos sutureless biological aortic valves do not involve stent technology, but makes use of a proprietary Nitinol attachment ring that is fully covered by textiles, has a very low profile, and can be applied with any current unchanged (FDA approved) biological aortic heart valve.
Daidalos sutureless aortic bio-valves are not compressed, nor expanded, nor balloon dilated, and do attach themselves strongly to the anatomical aortic valve annulus, with a low profile, without para-valvular leakage. The method proved to be feasible during acute and long-term (90 days) living animal testing.
Daidalos sutureless bio-valves have a very low profile, are fully covered by textiles, and is firmly attached at the level of the true anatomical valve annulus only.
The Perceval® valve of Sorin and Enable® valve of Medtronic have a high profile with lots of bare metal. It is well know that a bare metal stent in the ascending aorta may lead to small thrombi, and it may be that such small thrombi cause embolic cerebral damages. Perceval® valve of Sorin and 3F-Enable® valve of Medtronic are fixed by expansion of the (over-sized) stent. These stent-products attach not only at the valve annulus, but also by their lower flange below the valve annulus, and by their struts at the coronary sinus level, and by the distal stent in the ascending aorta.
Compared to Intuity® valve of Edwards, Daidalos sutureless aortic valves seem to be less bulky, have a lower profile, and do not need to be dilated by a balloon. The visibility during implantation will be better.

Daidalos sutureless biological valves can be implanted as an one-component technique, but also as a two-component technique.
If used as a two-components, the attachment ring functions as a platform to be connected to the valve prosthesis. This two-component feature will allow rapid replacement of degenerated or otherwise failing biological valves.
Daidalos two-component valve technology is unique because it is the only sutureless two-component technology currently available compared to other two-component valves like the VXiVitality Valve® of ValveXChange and the Arbor Valve® of Arbor Surgical Technologies (as licensed to Medtronic). The VXiVitality Valve® makes use of a hand-sewn platform, while the Arbor Valve® makes use of individually positioned small staplers. Daidalos technology is the only two-component technology that is sutureless and an one-shot device.
